  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped
  • 8 ounces bittersweet chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup chocolate shavings for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt.
  3. Add melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined.
  4. Pour the batter into a greased cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  5. Let the cake cool completely in the pan.
  6. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream until just simmering, then remove from heat.
  7. Add the chopped semisweet and bittersweet chocolate, stirring until smooth.
  8. Once the cake is cool, pour the chocolate mousse over the top and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
  9. Garnish with chocolate shavings before serving.
